The Story
Fiyaworks is a new and dynamic company, which is shown in my new design. It’s an explosion-like shape, to illustrate our company name.
While working on the design, it began to grow as more layers were added that helped to express the exuberant nature of who we are. The design appears to grow from a centre point — similar to how we strive to nurture and foster the skills and development within our company.
The colour scheme was chosen for its aesthetic values, but the red was also chosen to represent our dynamic nature, vibrant attitude and passion for what we do. It’s spread across the whole design representing its presence in all aspects of what we do.
Even though the design can be seen as quite abstract, there is a story behind the composition — one that represents who we are at Fiyaworks — a company which strives to be socially aware, dynamic and fun.

Exploding Watch Design

When thinking about a design for our t-shirts, I had many things in mind, I wanted it to have a meaning, be dynamic and represent our company as being, Fiyaworks. With this in mind I came up with a few ideas ranging from dynamite and explosions to pocket watches. I went with the pocket watch idea, as it was a neutral and non-gender biased.
The message behind this idea would be time. Time is a very broad concept and it reflects our company as being composed of young people in the modern day world. We all know how precious time is and how we must “balance” our time, between school, our social life and family. Our company is also made of year 11 students where we’ve just entered our senior school life, and to think in only a little over a year we will be completing our HSC, going off to university, and defining the rest of our lives. As we can see we are approaching a major cross road in our lives, where we step out into the real world to determine our future.
For the design I chose to do an exploding pocket watch, as I believe featuring an antique object would put emphasis on the theme of time. It also expresses a common paradigm that time just seems to fly by. The explosion of the symbol represents the desire to just slow things down in a world which is becoming more and more about living life in the fast lane. With the breaking of the pocket watch I hoped to capture a sense of relief finally in being able to give up on meticulously living life by time and instead focus more on the simpler things in life like just enjoying each day as it comes. Meanwhile the fact that the watch is exploding also represents the dynamic nature of Fiyaworks whilst embodying the common dilemma of our lives all in what I hope to be an aesthetically pleasing way.
