Sales with Ryan Gracie

On the 6th of August, Fiyaworks was visited by Ryan Gracie, the General Manager of ‘i98fm’ for a Sales Discussion. The session was helpful to all the members of our company and was a source of motivation to sell more t-shirts and reach our goals.

Ryan discussed many important sales aspects with the team, which involved overcoming the fear of ringing business to make prospective sales. He stressed the fact that the relationship between a salesman and customer should be thought of more as a friendship. This encouraged team members to build the confidence to approach people and successfully deliver the product to specific requirements.

Company Members were able to ask Ryan questions in relation to difficulties faced when dealing with businesses and customers. This allowed particular concerns to be brought forward, in which Ryan responded with helpful advice.

Overall, the sales discussion with Ryan Gracie was valuable as company members gained strong sales skills from an experienced businessman.

Red Balloon

Red Balloon is a an online gift retailer that is unique to other gift retailers as they specialise in selling experiences. On the 18th of June 2009, James Wright, the Account Director of Red Balloon attended our board meeting to share with us his experiences and to advice us on how to improve our business.

His expertise in the areas of marketing and sales are useful as fiyaworks is at the stage in the business life where marketing and selling are crucial for the success of the business.

There is a very common saying, 'We learn from our mistakes.' During his visit, James was able to share with us some common mistakes that a sales person make when they are at the last moments of making a sale.

James' visit has certainly been useful and the whole company could benefit from the experiences he shared. He encouraged to see sales in a different perspective and motivates us to see ourselves in a different way. He continually mentions "branding" and how we as a company needs to be identified in the market, using himself as an example, dressed all in red identifying him as a member of the red balloon.

We learn things from his experiences but we were also able to learn just by observing him. James was direct and confident. He understands what he is talking about but most importantly he was able to convince us because he believed everything he said.We bought every word he said and he just like that, he had subtly demonstrated how sales should be done. Direct, entertaining and convincing.

We have learnt a great deal in that meeting and we thank James for sharing his experiences with us.

Markets

Fiyaworks held a stall at the Wollongong Creative Traders and Produce Market on Friday 24th July. It was a great success and a really enjoyable experience for the whole team. Being our first market it was a little nerve-wracking but we pulled through managing to get that much closer to our final sales goal. We got a great experience, learnt some really valuable lessons and collected important information that is sure to help us at future markets and the upcoming Trade Expo. We hope to attend another market soon.
